A Ritual For You, The People of the Earth.

Light a candle, in a jar. Sit quietly, outside if you can, or maybe by an open window, watching the flame flicker through the glass, and paying close attention to everything around you; the sights, the sounds, the scents, the sensations.

The Equinox occurs today, on March 19, at 10:50 PM CDT. It is the Vernal Equinox, marking the first day of Spring in the Western Hemisphere. The Spring Equinox, when the sun passes directly over the equator, and day and night are in balance.

But this year - for humans, the world as we know it is very much off balance. So, this evening, let's come together to work with the energy of Spider Woman, to try to weave some things back together.

You don't have to heal the world, just sit quietly and cast your threads to hold and support all those Beloveds, whose lives mean so much to you, and then extend to include all *their* Beloveds. Allow the threads to be cast to the Earth as an anchor - and to the treetops. Connect those threads to one another, in glistening, gossamer lines of wholeness, and protection.

Each person doing this, envision your web, connecting to another web, and another, and another, and another. Providing support and a safety net, that has waves of comfort, compassion and love rippling across each thread.

Keep your own circle tight, allow the natural patterns to emerge. Pluck the thread that anchors you. Allow the vibrations of your intention to shimmer outward, allow the voices of reason, and of nature inform you, giving you ideas of what you need to do to be safe in these troubled times. Allow the information of the planet to ripple back to you. It is not all going to be ok. It is going to be different, it is going to be difficult. We have taken a long time to come to this place, and now we need to find our way back. Follow the threads. Stay strong. Take care of yourselves, so no one else has to. Listen to the words of Spider Woman.

SPIDERWOMAN SPEAKS

-Words and Mask from Lauren Raine.

You don’t know my name. It doesn’t matter.

I’ve had a lot of names.

Call me Tse-Che-Nako, Thought Woman

I create the World with the stories I tell, just as you do.

Call me Spider Woman the Weaver.

At the end of each age I led the people up,

through the Birth Kiva, into the dawn of a new Age.

Now the 4th Age is ended,

It is time again to come with me.

Listen to me, I’ll tell you something.

Your spirit has become woven into bad things.

Things are unraveling.

Take this thread from me.

It’ s time to weave a new story now.

Walk out into the desert

Notice the shapes of things,

The shape of the sky,

the shapes of shadows,

the shape of your own shadows.

Take a deep breath of all the stories

that live here.

Stories woven into the land.

Stories that wrap themselves

around old bones and pottery shards,

Stories written in the rocks about Snake and Raven,

The Yellow Women and the Sacred Twins,

and the cold hearts of sleeping mountains.

There are cracks in the land like a spider web,

full of light,

full of fire.

Once, you could see the Web

as plain as day. Song lines, leylines,

threads, connections, the pattern.

Each shining, light woven thread.

You say you can't see it.

Well, take a look around!

You don't need to climb a mountain

to get the big picture!

All of its snaking rivers

and twining roots

Are inside of you!

All those threads

come right out of your hands

And out of your hearts

All those threads just go on forever

Into the Earth,

and into each other:

into all your stories,

into everyone you'll ever know,

into all those who came before you,

and all those who will come after you.

Oh, Metaquisin
